Technology

Technology is changing and progressing everyday.  Most people think this is positive; however, it could also have negative consequences.  What are some negative consequences of having better technology today? Do you think the positive aspects of advanced technology outweigh possible negative aspects? Why?

  1. I think some companies have been using robots, computers or machines to make something. they work very well.On the other hand, a lot of employees have been cut by developing technology. In the future labor force will decrease more. keiko

  2. I use a computer everyday. When I don't understand or forget something, I check the Internet without thinking by myself. So, we must always be concerned that people may regress by advanced technology.

  3. Our life is most likely influenced by technology in one way or another. Everybody have many devices, for example television, computer and cell phone to keep in touch with friends, relatives etc.
The tecnology is important and it has a lot to offer everyone but it forgot the our past and the simple actions we used to do everything, the newspaper for example with the progress the people don’t buy it because they can read it on internet at just few keystrokes. what do you girls think about it?

  4. I agree with Tomona.
By progress of technology, our life becomes convenient. However, it is too convenient, we are stopping making full use of our naturally capacities. For example, to memorize, think and device something. The negative consequence is that the technology makes us (=human) weak, I think. We need to keep up with progress of technology, keeping in mind about this negative aspect.

  5. Interesting comments so far! I agree technology can make people lazy, and disconnected from the real world.

What about even more serious effects of technology? Like if it gets into the wrong hands (I was thinking about terrorism, specifically.)

  6. Hey Everyone.
Hope you are going well. I'm a little bit late on this blog but all the things you posted are very interesting. I especially agree with Tomona and Yuko. I'm worried about our decrasing natural capacities using all the new technological accessories that we have. I remember when I was Young :), like 10 years old, my grand-father gave me an electronical agenda. I was very impressed. It was like an Iphone for me in 1989. But I was already worried about how to keep and train his memory if we had to write on it everything that we had to do during the week. I think it was for me like the beginning of "Anti-technology"!! I thought it's too dangerous for human ;)... But now I have Iphone, Ipad, Itouch, MacBook....but I try to use all these devices with intelligence. Because, you can be efficient with it. You can go fast, think fast, respond fast, travel like light, gain time and sometimes it's really necessary. We are not yet able to know what will be the consequences but I am waiting for a study about that. My one-year-old son knows how to unlock my iphone, change picture, and is laughing with funny apps. I am scary!!
But at the end I think there are more positive aspects than negative ones will all the new technologies.

  7. I’m sorry I posted lately.
I agree with Tomona. When I was working in Japan, I used a computer to send mails and to make documents by using Microsoft Word and Excel every day. Thanks to that, I have progressed computer skills, but actually I have become often forget kanji(it’s Japanese letter) and I have not become calculate by myself. I must reflect on myself about depending a computer.
Then, I am thinking about Facebook. It is very interesting and very fun communication tool for me, but for one of my Japanese friends, it is a tool to watch their boyfriends. Unfortunately, by advanced technology, their boyfriends lost their privacy. I think that is a negative aspect of advanced technology, too.

  9. Technology is changing and progressing everyday that is true. for us it is interesting but for some people it is very hard to find the line. for example my mum. she doesnt have a facebook not even an e mail account. Im in Amerika and she is in Germany and the time difference is 6 hours. I cant call her everytime thats why i am more in touch with my freinds than with my mum. of course she used the computer but it is many years ago and now it is hard for her to learn it. my mum says one day will come and the people will stop to talk to each other. i think its nicer to visit people and to ask them is everything going well then to write them just an e mail. Technology govers the people..

  10. Hi everyone! I cannot believe that I finally can post something on this blog :-D But back to topic...Technology. I agree with Maria. The Technology is moving so fast. Many years ago people didnt even know what cell phones are or how computers are working. Today even little kid can describe to you everything about it. Technology maybe can be dangerous for us (addictive) but we cannnot live without it. I cant imagine that I dont have cell phone or any other electronic devices. I need to be in touch with my friends and with my family and I dont know any other way than through technology. I have to speak with my family what is far away from here. Who knows how technology will look like after many years later but I am so excited about it. Because of these products our lives are not that difficult like without them...so why not to enjoy it!
